Presidency denies Shettima was barred from Aso Villa

The Presidency has denied reports claiming that Vice President Kashim Shettima was stopped from entering the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In a statement on Saturday, Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), said the story was “totally false” and meant to mislead the public.

Nkwocha said, “The latest in this string of disinformation is a report claiming that the Vice President has been refused entry to the Villa. This is a feeble attempt to attack the person and office of His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON. For the record, nothing of the sort ever happened.”

He explained that the report came from “obscure blogs” that falsely claimed military officers had blocked Shettima from entering the Villa.

Nkwocha described the claim as “the wildest expression of wishful thinking,” accusing those behind it of trying to create a false fight between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.

“It is understandable, though regrettable, that the mischief-makers continue to underestimate the strength of the bond and goodwill between the President and the Vice President,” he said.

“These fairy tales serve no purpose beyond mischief and distraction.”

He also mentioned that this was not the first fake report aimed at the Presidency. Earlier in the week, there was another rumour about campaign posters with President Tinubu’s image, which was also proven false.

Nkwocha stressed that Shettima remains focused on his duties and will not be distracted by false claims.

He urged the public to ignore the report and advised journalists to always confirm news from credible sources.

“No amount of lies will shake the democratic mandate of this administration,” the statement added.
