Presidency denies reports of Akume’s resignation as SGF

The Presidency has dismissed circulating reports claiming that Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has resigned his position.

The clarification came through a statement issued by Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Addressing the rumours suggesting Akume stepped down to assume the chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress, Onanuga emphasized that the reports are baseless.

According to Onanuga, “there has been no change in the status” of Akume.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.

The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue,” Onanuga stated.

The rebuttal follows the recent resignation of APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. In the interim, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, is expected to step in as acting chairman.

Although APC spokesman Felix Morka stated that Ganduje resigned to attend to personal and urgent matters, internal party sources suggest that mounting pressure within the party may have influenced his decision.
