The Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has refuted claims that the Presidency offered ministerial positions to former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Ralph Nwosu.
Bwala clarified that only President Tinubu has the authority to offer or approve ministerial appointments.
He made the statement on Wednesday via a post on his official X handle.
The denial followed Nwosu’s claim during the ADC’s National Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, where the party’s leadership was officially handed over to former Senate President David Mark. Nwosu alleged that unnamed individuals had offered him three ministerial slots in a bid to dissuade him from turning the ADC into a coalition opposition platform.
In response, Bwala dismissed the allegation, stating that members of the ADC were “painfully graduating to the association of jesters.”
He said: “From his words as reported you know that he lied that senior government officials of @officialABAT administration promised him 3 ministerial slots to not surrender his party to the coalition for a wild goose chase.
No government official(s) of whatever rank in our government can promise or grant ministerial slots but Mr President.
If a promise of ministerial slots would be made to Mr Nwosu, it would be made by the president and to him directly.”
Bwala further challenged Nwosu to name the individuals allegedly involved, stating:
“The same courage he mustered saying he was promised slots by the officials could have been used in mentioning their names and positions in this government.
They are painfully graduating to association of jesters or Association of Disorganised Characters.”
