Presidency clarifies Kyari’s age, says CoS was 67

The Presidency has confirmed the age of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, who died on Friday after contracting the coronavirus, as 67 years old.

The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, in a tweet on Sunday, stated that the late senior appointee of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), should not be confused with his namesake.

Ahmad said:

CLARIFICATION: Mallam Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to President Buhari, was 67. He was born on September 23, 1952.

“The other Abba Kyari, a Nigerian military officer, who some mixed/mistook for CoS, died at the age of 80; he was born on November 17, 1938 and died on November 25, 2018.”
