The Premier League on Friday announced that agreed to permit the concussion substitution form next as the 2020/21 season enters matchweek 21.

Beginning from February 6, the league will have two extra substations, exclusively for players who suffer a concussion during matches, which would not affect the regular three substitutions per game.

Following the agreement between the Football Association (FA) and the PL to apply the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the concussion sub will be extended to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship and Emirates FA Cup.

According to reports, the Premier League, FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship will commence the trial from February 6 as well as during the fifth round of the FA Cup, which begins on February 9.

“The trial is a result of the IFAB’s consultation with stakeholders and recommendations from their concussion expert group to allow additional substitutions for players with actual or suspected concussion,” a joint statement from the FA and Premier League read.
