POTHOLES! Gridlock as fallen attack blocks Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, commuters blame bad roads

A tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol fell early Friday morning at Iyana Ilogbo axis along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, spilt its content, which led to a gridlock.

The tanker was travelling from Abeokuta end and headed to Lagos when the incident happened.

The tanker was said to have fallen due to the bad condition of the road.

Traffic had been diverted to a single lane, which is the opposite lane, leading outside Sango-Ota.

Motorists travelling inward and outward Abeokuta were also forced to divert to other inner routes inside Ilogbo, Onihale, and Ijoko among others.

Vehicular traffic had also built up on these adjoining roads, which were not tarred but also in bad shape.

Meanwhile, firefighters, and operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police and Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corp are currently on the ground at the scene of the accident, waiting for the arrival of a crane to remove the fallen tanker off the road.
