Nigerian rapper Darlington Akpacho, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has shared his side of the story following his defeat in a celebrity boxing match against singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable.
The fight, which took place on April 18, 2025, came after months of online tension between the two entertainers.
The highly publicized bout ended with Speed Darlington being taken away in an ambulance, sparking concern and speculation.
Hours after the event, Speed Darlington addressed fans on social media, attributing his loss to supernatural interference.
According to him, Portable may have used black magic, commonly referred to as “juju,” during the match.
“My shoulder come dislocate, I no know wetin happen, whether na the juju wey Portable carry come. I neva tire o, my shoulder just comot. It wasn’t a sharp pain but I couldn’t use it anymore, it was out of commission,” he said.
Explaining further, the rapper noted that his injury might have been caused by the force of his wide swings during the fight. “Omo, me I think say na because I dey swing wide, if to say e break, I for no do this one, e no break, e just dislocate but dem don put am back in. Ambulance dey there so they put am back in but they say if you continue, e go end up surgery.”
Speed Darlington also expressed deep disappointment over missing out on the prize money, which he intended to use for a personal project in his hometown. “The thing wey dey pain me now na all that money wey dey go carry give Portable, me I wan build swimming pool for my village, e pain me, I for do my own juju. That’s what it is mehn, the fight is over.”
His remarks have since gone viral, fueling even more conversations around the already controversial match.
