After a period of uncertainty, musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from police custody after fulfilling the bail conditions set for his freedom.

Portable was arrested by the Nigeria Police on Tuesday over a N14 million debt he allegedly owed a car dealer in Lagos State for a G-Wagon purchase.

Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “He’s been granted bail.” This confirmation came after earlier reports indicated Portable’s continued detention due to failure to meet bail conditions.

In viral videos capturing the arrest, Portable was seen attempting to evade arrest, prompting a chase by policemen who eventually subdued him. The incident generated mixed reactions, with some condemning Portable’s resistance to arrest and others criticizing him for defaulting on his debt.

Portable’s journey in the music industry has been marked by controversy, including a previous arrest by the Ogun State Police Command for alleged assault and stealing.
