Trump to rival Facebook, Twitter with launch of ‘TRUTH Social’

Published

Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced his intentions to rival Facebook, Twitter and others with the launch of a new social media platform, named ‘TRUTH Social’.

According to statement by the former president’s newly established company, Trump Media and Technology Group, their goal is to fight back against Silicon Valley big wigs.

Recall that Trump was banned from the biggest social media platforms — Twitter, Facebook and YouTube — after inciting his supporters during the theJan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Due to concerns that the ex-president might incite more violence with his controversial and unverified comments on social media, Twitter banned Trump permanently.

However, Facebook said it could lift Trump’s ban in 2023 while streaming giant, YouTube said its ban would be lifted after the “risk of violence” decreases.

To actualise Trumps new project, TMTG is planning a merger with the Digital World Acquisition Corporation.

The mission of the group “is to create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley, which have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America.”

Trump, who is the Chairman of the group, said in the statement, “I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.

“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech.

“Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
