Barely 24 hours after former Governor of Gombe State, Sen. Mohammed Goje, was attacked, his daughter, Dr Hussaina Danjuma Goje, on Friday resigned as the Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources.

Husssain, who made the announcement via a statement and a short video, hinged her resignation on personal grounds.

She appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for giving her the opportunity to serve the state.

She said, “Today Saturday November 6, 2021, I wish to inform the general public and media organisations that I, Dr Hussaina Goje have tendered my formal resignation from my position as Honorable Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources to His Excellency the Executive Governor or Gombe State Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya effective today.”

“I also wish to inform that my resignation was made based on my personal reasons. With this, I wish to show my appreciation and the opportunity given to me by Governor Yahaya to serve as a member of the Executive Council this administration.”

WuzupNigeria had reported that Goje was attacked on Friday by suspected thugs who blocked his convoy on his way to Gombe by thugs allegedly loyal to Yahaya.

According to Goje’s media aide, Lilian Nworie, his principal was on his way to attend the wedding of his granddaughter, Fatima Musa when Yahaya’s men unleashed mayhem on his convoy.
