The Bauchi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the 21 names forwarded to it as commissioner nominees by Gov. Bala Mohammed.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the confirmation of the 21 nominees took place through a voice vote conducted during plenary on Thursday.
The Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Sulaiman, said that the nominees were confirmed based on their experience and records.
He listed the nominees confirmed as: Abdulkadir Ibrahim (Alkaleri LGA); Garba Dahiru (Bauchi LGA); Nuruddeen Abdulhamid (Bauchi LGA); Ahmed Aliyu Jalam (Dambam LGA); Dayyabu Chiroma (Darazo LGA), and Maryam Bagel (Dass LGA).
Also confirmed were Umar Babayo Kesa (Gamawa, LGA); Asma’u Ahmed (Giade LGA); Usman Moddibo (Jama’are LGA); Hajara Jibrin Gidado (Itas Gadau LGA); Sama’ila Kaila (Katagum LGA), and Aminu Hammayo (Misau LGA).
Others were Hamisu Shira (Shira LGA); Abubakar Bununu (Tafawa Balewa LGA); Aliyu Tilde (Toro LGA); Abdulrazak Zaki (Warji LGA); Adamu Soro (Ganjuwa LGA); Yakubu Ningi (Ningi LGA); Jidauna Mbamis (Bogoro LGA); Mrs Sa’adatu Bello (Kirfi LGA), and Abdullahi Musa (Zaki LGA).
Sulaiman commended the governor for choosing the calibre of people that would serve the state diligently.
The speaker charged the commissioner nominees to be fair and just when finally inaugurated as members of the State Executive Council.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the governor had on July 9 dissolved the State Executive Council and other notable political appointees, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff (CoS) Government House, and all Special Advisers, except four.
