Hoodlums suspected to be bandits on Monday storm Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara where they burnt down several houses, including that of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya.

The report was confirmed by the State Chairman of the Committee on Security and Prosecution of Bandits, Abdullahi Shinkafi, on Monday.

Shinkafi said the attack took place in Zurmi Local Government Area.

The chairman averred that the attack was a reprisal for the ongoing onslaught by the military in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

After assessing the security situation in the affected community, Shikanfi revealed that two suppliers of foodstuffs, petrol and other commodities to the bandits were arrested.

As at the time of filing this report, no casuality was reported.

But Shikanfi reassured that the state government would provide support for victims and deploy more security operatives to protect the people.

Speaking further, he revealed that the suppliers have confessed using boats to convey the products from Sokoto through Issa Local Council to the bandits in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

TRIBUNE reports that the arrested suspects have since been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, he added.
