The Nigeria Police Force Headquarters has issued a strong warning to the public against submitting petitions to dubious individuals posing as police agents.

It noted that these unscrupulous individuals are charging and deceiving unsuspecting citizens into paying large sums of money under the pretext of processing their complaints.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejob made the statement in Abuja on Monday.

In his statement, he vehemently condemned this criminal act and urged those involved to cease their activities immediately.

He reiterated that the NPF does not have agents authorized to collect and process petitions from the public.

Adejobi emphasized that Nigerians can submit their petitions directly to police offices as regular correspondence. He assured the public that there are no special treatments or administrative bureaucracies associated with petition processing.

It has been observed that many Nigerians seek the help and services of some unscrupulous and dubious elements in processing written complaints or petitions, which has hindered the smooth attention such petitions deserve and denied many justice.

“The Nigeria Police does not have agents to take and process petitions from Nigerians.

“These elements charge and dupe people of huge amounts under the pretence of processing their complaints with such monies and denting the image of the Police and our Senior Officers.

“This is improper and unacceptable. “Nigerians are hereby urged to always drop petitions to our offices as normal correspondence, as there are no special treatments, or administrative bureaucracies on petitions,” he said.

The FPRO encouraged the public to expose and report any individuals engaging in this fraudulent practice using the NPF’s established complaint platforms. He reaffirmed the NPF’s commitment to eradicating this illegal activity and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
