Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted a Toyota Sienna conveying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink” suspected to be adulterated and arrested the 44-year-old driver, according to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.
The arrest occurred on August 17, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri-Agbarho Expressway, conducted by the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit . Further investigation led operatives to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink were recovered .
Also recovered at the warehouse premises were another beverage and a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products . The suspected operators of the warehouse fled on sighting the police, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them and unravel the source and distribution network .
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and directed that the investigation be pursued diligently to ensure all suspects linked to the crime are apprehended .
