The Delta State Police Command has discovered the body of a site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, who was allegedly killed and buried by his own workers at a construction site.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

According to the police, Udalor was supervising a building project for his cousin and had hired four young men from Benue State to work on the site. However, on December 10, 2024, the workers attacked him, hitting him on the head with a hammer.

After killing him, the suspects buried his body in a shallow grave at the construction site to hide the crime.

“A sad story of a 38-year-old man employed by his cousin as a site engineer. The site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, hired four boys from Benue State,” the police statement read.

“On December 10, 2024, they conspired and murdered him at the site, using a hammer to hit his head and then buried him in a shallow grave there at the site. Man’s inhumanity to man.”

The police said Udalor’s body was exhumed on April 2, 2025, after two of the suspects were arrested. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The police assured that justice will be served, urging the public to report any suspicious activities in their communities.
