The Kano State Police Command has achieved significant success in its campaign against thuggery on Tuesday with the arrest of a notorious thug, Inuwa Zakari, also known as “Gundura,” along with 14 other suspects.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests in a statement noting that Gundura, 24, who has been wanted for terrorizing Kano’s metropolis, was identified as the attacker responsible for inflicting life-threatening injuries on a Vigilance Group Commander and damaging a police vehicle.
The arrests were made during clearance operations conducted between October 25 and 27, 2024, as part of an intensified effort directed by the State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, to address rising thuggery.
The Kano Police Command’s message to the public was firm, emphasizing that violent activities would not be tolerated.
The suspects are now under investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged in court following the completion of the inquiry.
The Commissioner of Police thanked the public for their continued support and cooperation, stating, “This isn’t the first time the Kano State Police Command has taken decisive action against criminal activity.”
He highlighted the Command’s prior success in August 2024, when 269 suspects were arrested for looting during a protest.
The Commissioner urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency contact numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926 for immediate action.
