A woman was stopped from jumping into the Lagos lagoon on Friday afternoon by officers of the Rapid Response Squad during their routine patrol on Carter Bridge.

The incident happened around 12:20 p.m. when the officers saw the elderly woman heading towards the edge of the bridge and quickly moved to stop her.

According to a statement by the RRS on social media, the woman was taken to their headquarters where the Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, spoke with her and listened to her story.

The police allowed her to have a private meeting with her husband and their 30-year-old son to settle whatever issues they were facing.

After the family discussion, CSP Jejeloye gave the woman words of encouragement and also offered her a cash gift. Her husband and son later took her home.

The family thanked the police for stepping in on time, for the support, and for the help they received.
