The Nigeria Police Force has moved the start date for enforcing the tinted glass permit requirement to October 2, 2025.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the new date after a rise in applications on the official portal showed more people were complying.

Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Monday that the extension would give officers more time to carefully check applications so that only qualified people get permits. He noted that this is important for national security.

Adejobi explained that the extra time will also help improve both digital and physical verification systems to protect the permit process from abuse.

He urged Nigerians to report any case of extortion, hidden fees, or unauthorized processing through the right channels.
