Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have rescued three teenage girls from suspected child traffickers in the state, with two women arrested and taken into custody.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the State Intelligence Department intercepted the teenagers on February 17, 2026, at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola.

The victims were identified as Naomi Linus, 14; Agnes Thomas, 16; and Patience Justine, 15.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command said preliminary investigations revealed that the minors were allegedly lured to Yola under false pretences and were being prepared for transportation to Abuja with promises of securing menial domestic jobs.

Police authorities described the situation as suspicious and consistent with patterns associated with child trafficking and exploitation.

According to the statement, the two suspects arrested are Hasiya Yuguda, 35, of NEPA area, Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South.

Further investigations also linked Simon Boniface, 38, of Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State. He is currently assisting police with ongoing inquiries.

The rescued teenagers are currently in protective custody, while efforts are underway to locate and reunite them with their families.

Police said investigations are continuing to determine whether the suspects are part of a wider trafficking network.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking, exploitation, and abuse of minors.

He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to thoroughly verify any employment or travel arrangements involving their children.

Members of the public were also encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities involving minors to the nearest police station.
