The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim, Haruna Lawal, hours after he was abducted on Saturday at Olorunda Village.

Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the rescue in a statement on Sunday. He said the command received a distress call around 2:10 a.m. from the victim’s sister, Alimot, reporting that armed kidnappers had invaded her brother’s residence, abducted him, and fled with his motorcycle.

“Upon receipt of the report, and acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, operatives of the Command immediately swung into action and deployed to the area,” Olayinka stated.

The prompt response, aggressive bush-combing, and the advancement of police patrol vehicles with sirens pressured the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee.

Lawal was rescued alive but sustained a head injury during the ordeal. He is currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Oyo.

Olayinka said efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects, and investigations are in progress.

The command reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring criminals have no hiding place in the state and urged continued cooperation through timely and credible information.
