The Kwara State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim, Sule Saidu, who was abducted at Ahuro Fulani Camp in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The rescue operation took place on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the abduction happened at about 11 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025. Saidu was taken by five armed men who stormed the Fulani camp.
Ejire-Adeyemi said, “On March 1, 2025, at about 07:06 hours, the command received an intelligence report on the abduction of Sule Saidu, ‘M’, of Ahuro Fulani Camp. A joint security team, including police detectives, hunters, and vigilantes, launched a rescue operation.”
The police confirmed that the gang was intercepted along the Babanla/Oreke area, leading to a gun battle. “One abductor was neutralised, two were arrested — Ibrahim Shehu, 40 years old, and Mohammad Lawal, 25 years old — while the remaining two escaped with gunshot wounds,” the statement added.
Recovered from the suspects were an AK-47 rifle and criminal charms. The police also revealed that the injured suspects later died on the way to the hospital due to the severity of their wounds.
Commending the efforts of the joint security team, the police spokesperson said, “The Kwara State Police Command commends the bravery and swift response of its officers, as well as the dedication of the local hunters and vigilante group who played a crucial role in the operation. Their collective efforts continue to enhance security and ensure the safety of residents.”
The Commissioner of Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
