The 11-year-old boy, Onose Friday Umasabor, kidnapped in his parents’ bedroom on July 19, in Ososo, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the Edo State was on Friday rescued by the state police command.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Kontongs Bello, in a statement said that the rescue of the minor was carried out through its Ososo Divisional Headquarters, which “received a report of the abduction of the boy at the LGA on 19th July 2021 about 0130hrs.

“On receipt of the information, the CP Edo State Police Command CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu psc (+) immediately drafted operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-crime unit of the command, led by its ever-ready commander SP Richard Balogun whom through pain-staking/high-tech tracking and intelligence-led operations, followed the hoodlums to their hide-out in Uneme Erunu/Okpella area of Akoko Edo L.G.A of Edo State.

“Upon sighting the Operatives, the abductors engaged them in a gun duel but they were overwhelmed by the superior firepower from the police which caused them to abandon the victim unhurt. An operational motorcycle without registration number and a Techno Android Phone was recovered after the abductors fled into the bush with various degrees of gun injuries,” the statement added.

The police spokesman disclosed that bush combing was on top gear with the aim of arresting the hoodlums, while an investigation was still ongoing to unravel the true identity of those behind the abduction of the boy.
