Viral video: Police reportedly break into FUTO student’s home through ceiling
A video has emerged on the internet purportedly showing some operatives of the Nigeria Police Force breaking into the room of a student through the ceiling.
The operatives who are said to be from the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) decided to break into the home of the student in an attempt to arrest him.
The video shared by a Twitter user has since gone viral on the microblogging site sparking a series of reactions.
The Twitter user who shared the video claimed the incident happened on Wednesday, the man whose ceiling was broken is also said to be a student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
In the footage, some men said to be SARS operatives could be seen trying to enter the room through the ceiling after the occupant had locked his door to prevent them from gaining access.
Reacting to the viral video, #EndSARS campaigner and advocate, Segun Awosanya popularly known as Segalink tweeted:
Over a hundred calls today alone across Nigeria on armed robbery operation of @PoliceNG. Yet there is an IGP and President in this country! Rogue Police officers are breaking into homes to rob people of their money as a means of livelihood & no Gov, Rep or Senator is concerned?! https://t.co/gm4ir28J9q

Also reacting to the footage, the Head of NPF Complaint Response Unit (CRU), ACP Markus Basiran tweeted:
The video and the story line has need to afford more insight than it has. Impressions have collectively remained subjective. A clearer expression is needed, i think!

This stuff has been going on as far back as 2009 that I remember
A certain Alhaji would come to LAUTECH ogbomoso to raid hostels aggressively with Policemen and their busses. Force their way into rooms and move things.

Besides, you can only say this if the officers were on illegal duty but if this operation was duely authorized, then calling them rogues and armed robbers while performing their lawful duty is way out of line.

I will keep saying this, all this officer on here doing Twitter are all robbers and they all know what they are doing. @PoliceNG own is to forward complaints make thunder fire the person handling that handle

There is no political efforts to stop police brutality. This is a shame on our leaders and those self-centered individuals supporting ineptitude. It’s crystal clear that our political leaders don’t have the interest of the masses at heart.
