The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully recovered two vehicles reported stolen in separate operations, as efforts continue to track down the suspects who fled the scenes.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, who said the recoveries were the result of coordinated, intelligence-driven operations carried out across the state.

Nansel explained that the first incident followed a distress call reporting the theft of a black Toyota Prado SUV bearing Abuja registration number YAB 81 KC.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, directed operatives from the ‘A’ Division in Lafia, alongside teams from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Operation Nasara, to act immediately.

The vehicle was subsequently located and recovered near Izallah Mosque in the Mararaba Akunza area of Lafia.

“Upon receipt of the information, operatives were immediately mobilised, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

“However, the suspects fled the scene and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them,” the statement read in part.

The police spokesperson further revealed that in a separate operation, officers attached to the Aso Pada Division responded to intelligence concerning suspicious individuals with a vehicle at Aso B area, close to the Assemblies of God Church in Mararaba, within Karu Local Government Area.

On sighting the operatives, the suspects reportedly escaped, leaving behind a silver Pontiac Vibe without registration plates.

A search conducted on the abandoned vehicle led to the discovery of a number plate believed to belong to it, a Nigerian Correctional Service beret, and photocopies of documents suspected to be linked to the car.

Preliminary findings, according to the police, indicate that the vehicle had earlier been reported stolen on March 11, 2025.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with intensified efforts underway to apprehend those responsible for the thefts.

The Commissioner of Police also called on residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies, assuring that the command “remains resolute and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.”
