The Delta State Police Command has responded to a viral video showing some of its officers handling bundles of cash inside a patrol van in Asaba, an incident that has sparked widespread criticism and raised concerns over police conduct.
The video, which made rounds on social media platforms, drew sharp reactions from Nigerians who questioned both the source of the money and the officers’ intentions.
Addressing the controversy on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the incident is under investigation and assured the public that necessary steps are being taken.
“Trust the Command, we are on it,” Edafe stated in a brief message, urging the public to remain calm as internal investigations are carried out.
Although full details surrounding the incident are yet to be made public, the police spokesman maintained that the Command would not hesitate to take disciplinary measures if any misconduct is uncovered.
