The Nigeria Police Force has begun an investigation into a viral video showing Nollywood actress Angela Okorie jogging while flanked by armed police officers.

The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, has raised significant public concern and sparked criticism over the perceived misuse of police personnel.

In a statement issued on Wednesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Force described the conduct of the officers involved as inconsistent with the standards expected of members of the police.

The statement, signed by Police Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that the officers’ actions fell below the required level of professionalism and discipline.

“The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged, an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.”

Adejobi acknowledged that the video may have been filmed on or near a movie set but affirmed that the widespread public reaction warranted a formal response.

“The incident, which appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, has also sparked widespread public concern and criticism,” the statement read.

He further confirmed that internal processes had been initiated to uncover the full circumstances behind the video and identify the officers involved.

“Accordingly, necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review,” he added.

As of the time of this report, Angela Okorie has not publicly addressed the controversy.
