The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a security guard, identified as Basiru Aminu, who was found dead at his workplace in the Oke Ola area of Igbaye.

Residents discovered Aminu’s lifeless body around 7 a.m. on Tuesday and quickly alerted the police.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abiodun Ojelabi, said there were no signs of violence on the body, suggesting it might be a sudden or natural death.

“It appears to be a sudden and natural death. The incident happened at Oke Ola in Igbaye, where the deceased, a security man, was found dead this morning. One Fasasi Adebowale contacted his brother to inform him,” Ojelabi said.

“The police visited the scene, and after checking, we found no marks of violence. However, investigations are ongoing, and an autopsy might be conducted to confirm the cause of death,” he added.

The news of Aminu’s death caused tension in the community, as residents debated the circumstances surrounding it. While some believe he might have been strangled, others think it could have been due to a health issue.

A shop owner near the area, who spoke anonymously, said, “I was among the first people to get there. We met his lifeless body and called the police. They came and took him away. People are already saying different things.”

Another resident, identified as Risikat, who knew the deceased, said she hoped the police investigation would reveal the truth.

This is not the first time such an incident has unsettled Osun residents. In March, a corpse was also discovered near a bus stop along the Ife-Ibadan Expressway in Ikire, sparking fear and confusion in the area.
