Police probe murder of Yobe housewife

A 42-year-old woman identified as Ammi Adamu Mamman was brutally slaughtered in her residence at Bra Bra Housing Estate in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.

The woman was discovered lifeless, with a deep cut on her neck, revealing the gruesome nature of the attack.

The Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, released a statement on Friday, stating that the state criminal investigation department had initiated an investigation to apprehend the culprits.

According to the statement, Abubakar Musa, a 43-year-old resident of New Bra Bra Housing Estate, was sleeping beside his wife, Ammi Adamu Mamman, when the assailants struck. Mamman was stabbed in the neck, resulting in severe bleeding and her untimely death. The husband was subsequently arrested for interrogation.

The statement disclosed, “Finding revealed that the couple are staff of the Yobe State University (YSU) Damaturu. The command condoled with the bereaved families as efforts are intensified to unravel and arrest the perpetrators.”

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Yobe Council, strongly condemned the heinous incident and urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the culprit to justice.

NUJ Chairman in the state, Comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismail, emphasized, “We are also calling on our colleagues, the journalists, to follow up on the matter by giving maximum publicity to enable the arrest of the suspects to prevent future occurrence.
