Police probe murder of FIRS official in Abuja

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, has taken swift action following the tragic killing of a Federal Inland Revenue Service employee. Khalid Bichi, a middle-aged man, was fatally shot by unknown gunmen on Friday night in Maitama, Abuja, while he was out to get food.

Reports indicate that Bichi was shot multiple times in his chest and leg before being rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In response to this distressing incident, Commissioner Igweh ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bichi’s untimely demise. In a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josphine Adeh, Commissioner Igweh expressed profound condolences to the bereaved family and vowed to ensure swift justice.

“CP Benneth Igweh unequivocally frowns at this cowardly act and assures both the family and the public of swift justice,” stated Adeh. “The diligent pursuit of the perpetrator(s) is underway, with every effort being made to ensure they are apprehended and brought to justice.”

Furthermore, Commissioner Igweh reaffirmed the unwavering dedication of the FCT Police Command to enhance the security landscape of the Territory. He assured the public that the police are continually adapting strategies to combat evolving criminal activities.
