Police in Ogun State have launched an investigation after discovering a dismembered female body in a sack in the Ogijo area. Authorities suspect it to be a case of ritual killing.
In a statement, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the gruesome discovery.
“On February 16, 2025, at about 1510hrs, the Chairman of Sedu 2 Community, Ogijo, and two other community members reported to the Ogijo Police Division that they had discovered an unidentified female body in a fenced farmland within the community,” the statement read.
The police described the victim as a light-complexioned woman, estimated to be around 30 years old.
“Upon receiving the report, detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly mobilized to the scene. On arrival, they found the female corpse without a head and two hands, wrapped in a sack,” the police stated.
Initial investigations suggest that the body was dumped at the location. The crime scene has been secured, and the remains have been taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for preservation and forensic examination.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation to track down those responsible for the crime.
Ogunlowo also urged parents and guardians to educate their children on personal security. He called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to help curb criminal activities in the state.
