Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested two armed robbery suspects following a violent gun battle during a robbery at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, Abuja.
The incident unfolded at around 3:20 a.m. on March 27, 2025, when officers from the Mabushi Division swiftly responded to a distress call.
Upon arrival, the suspects engaged in a fierce exchange of gunfire with the police. However, the officers, armed with superior firepower, overpowered the assailants, who attempted to flee but were injured during the gunfight.
The police launched a pursuit, which led to the capture of the two suspects, identified as Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa, both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi. During the operation, the police recovered a significant haul of stolen items and weapons. These included two locally-made firearms and three stolen vehicles: a black Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. NBS 348 CP), a black Toyota Venza (Reg. No. ABJ 105 AV), and a grey Lexus IS350 (Reg. No. RSH 295 CB).
Additionally, police seized valuable electronics such as two MacBook Pro laptops, one Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PS4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. They will be charged in court once the investigation concludes.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, praised the officers for their courage and professionalism. He also urged residents to take proactive security measures, like installing vehicle tracking devices, to aid in recovering stolen property.
The FCT Police Command reassured the public that the security situation remains under control and vowed to continue its efforts to ensure the safety of all residents.
