The Rivers Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals involved in a series of criminal activities, including bank robbery, theft of motorcycles, and robbing unsuspecting victims of their money and property.

The suspects, identified as Ikenna Obiko, 30, and Isichukwu Eneji, 24, were captured in the Olu Obasanjo area of Port Harcourt while riding a motorcycle.

According to reports, the duo confessed to their involvement in various crimes, revealing that they specialized in robbing individuals inside parked cars using master keys. They also admitted to stealing motorcycles by employing ignition wires to start them. Furthermore, the suspects confessed to targeting bank customers after withdrawal at banks and ATM centers.

Rivers Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrests, noting that the suspects were linked to a recent robbery case involving an Indomie Noodles vehicle, during which they seized N100,000 from the driver.

Iringe-Koko disclosed, “Police investigations show that the suspects both relocated to Port Harcourt last year following the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) crisis in Imo State and other parts of the South East.”

The suspects, both originating from Oguta in Imo State, revealed that external influences led them into a life of crime. Ikenna cited being lured into criminal activities by a deceased community leader, while Isichukwu claimed his late uncle tutored him in the act of robbery.

The Rivers Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed that the two suspects be promptly charged in an appropriate court of law.

Iringe-Koko conveyed the police boss’s call for public cooperation in maintaining law and order, emphasizing the commitment to eradicating crimes and criminality in Rivers State.
