The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a Notorious Cops Killer Gang Member of a syndicate that specialises in high profile armed robbery operations in Warri and Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The high profile gangs operations also including the killings of policemen to cart away their rifles within Warri metropolis and its environs.
Multiple sources told Our correspondent that, “the 32 years old male suspect identified as Philip Mike Mishan, popularly known as ‘Cele’, had been the brain behind series of violent robbery cases in the twin cities of Warri and Effurun since 2010 till date.
“Items recovered from the suspect in an operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ekpan Division, SP Asanaenyi Ibok, to his hideout at Alegbo area in Effurun, were; two (2) AK 47 rifles, with 5 rounds of magazines and one hundred and forty rounds of live ammunition.
“He was said to led series of armed robbery operations including trailing of bank customers to their different locations to disposed them of their cash and other valuables both affected council areas.
“The gang he belonged had also been fingered in the recorded cases of policemen that were killed in parts of Effurun and Udu areas whose service rifles were taken away from them by their assailants.
“His operational methods changed in the last two years after he escaped arrest from police who had been on his trail for a while by relocating to Ozoro his hometown in Isoko North Local Government Area from where moves to Alegbo area for operations.”
Efforts to get the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP Asanaenyi Ibok to give details of the arrest was turned down, as he directed further inquiries to the Delta State Police Commissioner.
However, When contacted for comments the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the arrest.
He said, “With this arrest the Command has recorded a major breakthrough in my crime fighting efforts in the Warri and Effurun areas.
“The police are on the trail of the gang leader who had been identified as Sylvester Usobotie, and other members of the gang currently at large.”
