The Osun State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for gunmen who attacked the Ora Igbomina community, near the Kwara State border, and abducted former customs officer, Prince Emmanuel Owolabi.
The incident occurred around 7 pm on Monday evening along Akisa Road in Ifedayo Local Government Area, where Owolabi resides.
Reports indicate that approximately eight armed men stormed the community, firing shots indiscriminately to create panic before forcibly taking the victim to an unknown location.
A resident, identified as Jumoke, said the attackers also moved toward the Oteere/Ila axis, targeting travellers in a separate attempted abduction.
“We heard that one person was shot during the attack. It was a terrible experience for the area. The gunmen reportedly escaped through the Ayedun community in Kwara State,” the source said.
According to the source, the assailants resisted efforts by local security guards and community vigilantes who tried to intervene.
Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command had launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
“We have launched a manhunt for the suspects,” he said.
