Police rescue four kidnap victims in Imo



Armed robbers on Tuesday engaged the police in a shoot out during their operation at the Lamingo Housing Estate, a suburb in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state.

Our Correspondent learnt that during the encounter, three of the robbers were shot dead by the police while several others fled the scene.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Isaac Akinmoyede who confirmed the incident while briefing journalists at the Command headquarters in Jos on Tuesday also said that one AK 47 rifle with breach No. 21165 containing 3 live ammunition, four handsets and two jack knives were recovered from the hoodlums.

The CP said,

“On 11/02/2020 at about 0015hrs, Operatives of Operation Puff Adder/ Anti Kidnapping Unit (AKU) of the Command received information from a Good Samaritan that armed robbers were Operating at Lamingo Gwafan Housing Estate along Golf Club Jos.

“Acting on the tip-off, the operative raced to the scene of the incident. On sighting the Police, the marauders engaged them in a gun duel but fortunately, three of the hoodlums were shot dead while others took to their heels.

” One AK 47 rifle with breach No. 21165 containing 3 live ammunition, four handsets and two jack knives were recovered. Meanwhile, the investigation is in progress”

The Commissioner of police also paraded two other suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of firearms.

He called on the residents of Plateau State not to relent in giving vital information to the police in order to fish out criminals among the populace.
