The Rivers State Police Command has announced the death of a notorious kidnap kingpin and cult leader, Nkem ThankGod, also known as “2man.”

The 42-year-old, from Ogbologbolo Community in Ahoada West Local Government Area, was killed during a police operation in Ahoada East.

Speaking on Thursday at the command headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed, revealed that ThankGod was responsible for numerous violent crimes, including the murders of four policemen, a couple, and several civilians.

“Men of the Rivers State Police Command have successfully neutralised a notorious kidnap kingpin and murder suspect, Nkem ThankGod, a.k.a. ‘2man,’ who has terrorised Ahoada East and West,” Mohammed said.

The police disclosed that ThankGod led the Greenlander Cult Group and had been on their wanted list since 2021. His crimes included the killing of the youth president of Okogbe Community, Christmas Ede, in December 2021, and multiple murders in 2024.

“He killed Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kiriki, Mrs. Abigail Victor, and a spare parts dealer after collecting ransom. He also murdered two Shell staff members and stole their Toyota Hilux in Okogbe,” the CP added.

ThankGod was notorious for targeting police officers. “He killed two policemen attached to the PMF 48, two officers of the Rapid Response Team, and shot SP Bello during a rescue operation in 2022,” Mohammed stated.

During the operation that led to his death, ThankGod and his gang were attempting another kidnapping. While ThankGod was killed, his gang members escaped with injuries.

Recovered items included two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and 22 rounds of live ammunition.

The CP assured residents of the police’s commitment to safety. “We will make Rivers State a living hell for criminals,” he said. Mohammed urged the public to report suspicious activities to help the police dismantle criminal networks.
