Police investigating alleged poisoning of tourism minister

The Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, is currently hospitalized after being suspected of being poisoned. According to a report by The PUNCH, Ade-John was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, on Thursday after showing symptoms of poisoning.

The PUNCH quoted family sources as saying that Ade-John was placed on a machine to assist with her breathing. The precise substance she may have ingested and the circumstances surrounding it remain unclear.

The State Criminal Investigation Department of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected poisoning. 

The Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said that the General Investigation Department of the State CID is investigating the matter and that the details of the investigation will be communicated to the public soon.

Ade-John was appointed as Minister of Tourism in August by President Bola Tinubu. She is a career banker and tech investor.

The PUNCH also reported that officials at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi have not responded to calls and text messages from journalists.
