The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Haruna Garba, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the ongoing investigation into the alleged poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John.

Minister Ade-John has been hospitalized at the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja due to acute poisoning from unknown origins.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, “The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID.”

Minister Lola Ade-John, aged 60, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, during the week after showing symptoms of illness.

She has been in the hospital for several days. Her family members are deeply concerned about her condition and are working to save her life.

The specifics of the poisoning, including the substance involved, remain unclear, and authorities have not yet confirmed any ongoing investigations by the police or State Security Service.

Her family has faced a dilemma regarding her treatment, with the permanent secretary of her ministry, Ngozi Onwudike, suggesting that she continue treatment at a public hospital like FMC.

However, her family desires to move her to a private hospital with better facilities. Financial constraints have prevented the transfer to a private facility.

Minister Lola Ade-John, a career banker and tech investor, was appointed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu in August.
