Police Force Headquarters announced the rescue of 11 kidnapped victims in Katsina State and arrested two suspected kidnappers in Delta State in separate security operations.

In Katsina, police and other security agents engaged armed bandits in a gun battle on June 8 along Danmusa-Mara Dangeza village road. The bandits fled with gunshot wounds, leaving behind all 11 kidnapped victims unharmed.

Meanwhile in Delta State, police arrested 30-year-old Abubakar Hassan, described as a kidnapping kingpin operating across Delta, Rivers, Imo and Enugu States. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines and 32 rounds of ammunition from his hideout in Ozoro forest.

In another operation along Ughelli Road, police arrested 38-year-old Obi Ezekiel after finding a locally-made rifle and 15 cartridges in his vehicle during a routine check.

Force spokesperson ACP Muyiwa Adejobi said: “These successes show our commitment to tackling violent crimes across Nigeria.”

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the officers, saying: “We will ensure criminals have no safe haven in Nigeria.”

The operations come amid increased police efforts to combat kidnapping and armed violence nationwide.
