The Nasarawa State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages within the Lafia East Development Area, leading to the arrest of six suspects and the rescue of three abducted persons.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Assakio Police Division in collaboration with local vigilante groups, resulting in the rescue of two females and one male.

The victims were freed without injury and later reunited with their families.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, the police said the operation followed a complaint received on January 7, 2026, alleging that armed kidnappers had stormed Angara village, abducted two women and abandoned an infant during the incident.

The statement added that the same suspects later abducted a male resident of the community.

Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, directed an immediate manhunt for those responsible, a move that culminated in the raid of the hideouts and the arrest of the suspects.

According to the police, the suspects have confessed to the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

“The Commissioner of Police has assured the good people of Nasarawa State of the Command’s sustained onslaught against all forms of criminality across the state,” the police stated.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of residents and called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
