The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the location where Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University, was buried following the arrest of the principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

The suspect, who was previously rumored to have fled to the Benin Republic, was apprehended on Monday morning in the Alakuko area of Lagos and has since been assisting detectives in locating the burial site.

Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning at the Alakuko area. He was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account through the victim’s mobile phone.”

Last Friday, the Lagos State Police Command had announced the arrest of three other suspects, including Whepetoji Sunday, a pastor accused of receiving N70,000 from the victim’s account, and Sheriff Adebayo, a church member who allegedly received N300,000.

Also in custody is Omolara Ajisomo, the suspect’s mother, who reportedly helped her children flee after they received money from the victim’s account.

Amid speculation that the victim was buried within a church premises, Hundeyin clarified that the grave was located elsewhere in the community.

“The shallow grave is not around the church premises, but it is there in the community. The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it out of vengeance, and we do not want that to happen,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources involved in the investigation revealed that police operatives were en route to exhume Ogunbode’s remains after the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.

According to the PUNCH, a police source said, “I just received information that the newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are on their way to the burial site.”*

When contacted to confirm this, Hundeyin simply responded, “Confirmed.”

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case, particularly after the LASU students’ union threatened a statewide protest over the incident.
