The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed a report claiming that a female police officer in the state was kidnapped and killed.
In a statement released on Saturday in Ilorin, the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the report as false and capable of causing unnecessary panic.
“The attention of the command has been drawn to a report circulating on social media about the alleged abduction and murder of a female police officer. This claim is entirely false and deeply distressing to members of the public,” Ejire-Adeyemi said.
She added that there was no record of any missing or abducted female police officer in any division across the state.
“There is no Ogidi Police Division in Kwara State. The spread of such misinformation is not only harmful to reputations but also distressing to the individuals and people of the state,” she stated.
The police spokesperson urged residents and media outlets to avoid sharing unverified stories that could cause fear or damage the image of the command.
“The Kwara State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adekimi Ojo, remains committed to protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and maintaining peace. We also assure the public of transparency and will provide updates whenever necessary,” Ejire-Adeyemi added.
