Police deny arrest of Sokoto man for killing wife

The Sokoto State Police Command has refuted reports claiming that a man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife and dumping her body in a well.

Speaking to journalists, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufa’i, dismissed the viral social media reports, stating that no such case had been recorded in any police division across the state.

“This is not in any of our divisions in Sokoto. I have checked with all our offices, and none has such a case in their records,”Rufa’i clarified.

He also pointed out discrepancies in the report, particularly the language spoken in the viral voice note, which he claimed does not match Sokoto’s Hausa dialect.

Despite the police denial, a report shared on PUNCH’s Instagram page alleged that the suspect was indeed arrested after his daughter raised the alarm over her mother’s disappearance.

The post stated that police investigations were ongoing, while the community remained in shock over the tragic incident. It also included a link to a graphic video allegedly showing details of the crime scene.

As of press time, there has been no official confirmation of the incident’s location or authenticity, leaving the public divided over the viral claims.
