The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with a deadly attack on its Tactical Teams in the Katsina-Ala/Ukum area of Benue State.
The operation, which remains ongoing, is part of a broader security response following the violent assault carried out by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Agu Centre, resulted in the deaths of three police officers, while seven others remain unaccounted for. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
“The attack, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, resulted in the death of three police officers, while seven others are still missing.
“The arrested suspects are in custody and assisting with useful information. Equally, the IGP has directed the deployment of additional tactical assets to the area and assured that no stone will be left unturned in restoring peace and security in Benue State,” the statement read.
Hundeyin also noted that the Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Innocent Emenari, is leading efforts on the ground to locate the missing officers and apprehend those responsible for the ambush.
