Police confirm murder of 16-year-old girl in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a 16-year-old girl, Sadiya Suleiman, from Sabon Gari Ward in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident in Damaturu.

He said the Bade Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call from Mai Anguwa Idris Haruna of Dadin Kowa Ward, reporting that the victim was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit near the New Prison fence in Gashua.

According to him, detectives were immediately mobilised to the scene and the girl was taken to the Specialist Hospital, Gashua.

Medical examination revealed that she was raped and brutally attacked before being killed.

He said an investigation has commenced to identify, trace, and arrest the perpetrator(s).

He urged residents to provide credible and timely information to assist in the arrest of those responsible.

Abdulkarim added that the State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, described the act as “barbaric, unacceptable, and deeply disturbing,” assuring that the command will deploy all necessary resources to ensure a swift arrest of the perpetrator(s).
