Police confirm abduction of six worshippers during midnight service in Ondo

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have confirmed the abduction of six members of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) on February 25, 2026.

The attack reportedly took place while a church service was in progress, triggering fear and confusion among worshippers, according to Independent.

The church is situated along the Uso/Owo Expressway in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents voicing growing anxiety about the deteriorating security situation in the area.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the attack occurred in the early hours of the morning at about 12:50 a.m.

Jimoh stated that the assailants whisked the victims away to an undisclosed location.
He said that following the report of the incident, police personnel, working alongside the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, swiftly moved to the scene and launched a coordinated rescue mission.

“As a result of sustained joint efforts, one of the kidnapped victims has been successfully rescued.

He said, “Security operations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and the apprehension of all perpetrators involved.”

The police spokesperson appealed to residents to stay calm and alert, urging them to support security agencies with credible and useful information that could aid the ongoing operations.
