Police conduct autopsy on corpse of Imo senatorial candidate killed by NSCDC officer

The police in Imo state have carried out an autopsy on the corpse of Imo senatorial candidate, Ndubuisi Emenike who was allegedly shot dead by an operative of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

He was shot on the 26th of January during a victory party in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

Emenike contested in the 2019 Imo North senatorial election which was won by Benjamin Uwajumogu who was shot dead on December 18.

The Okigwe Northern re-run election was held on the 25th of January.

The police spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu told our correspondent on Monday that the police had successfully carried out an autopsy on the corpse of Emenike.

Ikeokwu told our correspondent in a telephone conversation that the result of the autopsy which was carried on Saturday was being awaited.

He said that there was no truth in the speculation that the autopsy had exonerated the NSCDC officer who is in police custody in Owerri for allegedly killing the billionaire politician.

The police spokesperson said ” the result of the autopsy is being awaited. The autopsy was carried on Saturday. There is no truth the autopsy report has exonerated anybody. The result is not out yet.It was carried out on Saturday. The result of the autopsy is being awaited. “
