The Kaduna State Police Command has commenced full enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles, warning that defaulters will face penalties as prescribed by law.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the enforcement, which took effect on February 1, 2025, follows the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has instructed officers across the state to strictly implement the policy to ensure compliance and enhance road safety.

“The enforcement is aimed at protecting road users from liabilities in the event of accidents involving insured vehicles,” Hassan stated.

He urged all vehicle owners and motorists to obtain valid Third-Party Insurance coverage immediately, warning that those found without it will face sanctions.

“The Third-Party Insurance Policy is not optional—it is mandatory, and we will ensure full compliance. Vehicle owners must obtain their policies from accredited insurance companies to avoid penalties,” he added.

The enforcement drive is expected to improve road safety and financial protection for motorists, as authorities intensify efforts to curb reckless driving and ensure accident victims receive necessary compensation.
