The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two female suspects in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, were apprehended on Monday by operatives from the Ozubulu Division acting on “technologically driven information.”

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects confessed to involvement in the case and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances of the girl’s relocation and identify any other accomplices.

This arrest follows a recent high-profile case handled by the command. On January 18, it was reported that police arrested a 28-year-old man, Friday Akonobi, linked to the abduction and alleged ritual killing of a six-year-old girl from Ebonyi State, in a syndicate involving an Enugu-based native doctor.
