The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly terrorising Sarau Belel community in Maiha Local Government Area.
The development, according to the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, followed a complaint about a recent kidnapping threat.
“On 26th December 2025, the Command received a complaint from Emmanuel Daniel, a resident of Sagal Village, who reported that he was threatened with kidnapping by two individuals.
“The suspects allegedly claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of his younger brother, Joshua Daniel, who was abducted in November 2024,” Nguroje said in a statement.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer of Sarau Belel, along with operatives of the division, to carry out a swift and coordinated operation.
“This led to the arrest of Sunday Yakubu, 36, and Daniel Yakubu, 38, both residents of Konjoli Village, Maiha LGA.
“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to the allegations and are currently aiding the command with useful information,” he said.
Nguroje further noted that the Commissioner has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution in line with the law.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged them to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
